Our Story

What We Stand For

Envisioning Equity creates brave space to unleash the full potential of every individual and as a result, the full potential of your team.

We are a collaborative group of consultants under a single umbrella creating partnerships that meet the unique needs of your organization.

Our professional relationship was forged when we co-founded Envisioning Equity: Strategic Planning for Inclusive Organizations, a conference designed to help Chicago nonprofits and other groups begin to dismantle systemic, structural, and institutional racism within and outside of their organizations. Through this experience, we discovered how our complementary skill sets, areas of expertise and working styles make for a team that serves the deepest equity needs of groups better than any of us could do on our own.

The multiracial, multicultural, multigenerational, multidisciplinary makeup of the Envisioning Equity team allows us to nimbly understand the needs of diverse organizations and the diverse constituents they work with. Together, we provide consultation to help organizations address their race equity, diversity and inclusion needs through several change models dependent upon the need in order to seek transformational and systems change.

The Envisioning Equity Philosophy

We strongly believe that within the effort lies the greatest opportunity for positive change. We are constantly reminded in our work that transformation actually happens in the process not because you have a deliverable. With this philosophy, we work off a three-pronged foundation.

Envisioning equity is life-long work.

Equity is not a check-the-box that can be completed quickly. There are always more layers to this work that we can and should be addressing.

We believe in the value of vulnerability.

Those with power and privilege in any given situation are in a position to embrace discomfort as an opportunity to learn. A willingness to be vulnerable and courageous through this discomfort is the only way progress can be made.

We believe in acceptance.

It is important to accept people where they are in their journey toward equity and then through this work, push them to the outer boundary of where they are able to go.
